The sixth typhoon of the year, Typhoon Khanun, has caused massive waves and strong winds in both northern and southern coastal areas of Taiwan. The Greater Taipei Area has also been affected by the typhoon, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

Currently classified as a moderate typhoon, Typhoon Khanun has significantly adjusted its projected path. Initially expected to approach China’s eastern coastal areas directly, Typhoon Khanun is now expected to stall in the East China Sea and change its course towards the northeast, possibly affecting Japan and South Korea, according to the latest Central Weather Bureau (CWB) forecast.

Typhoon Talim, the fourth typhoon this year, is heading toward Guangdong Province and is expected to intensify into a moderate typhoon. From Monday (July 17) to Wednesday (July 19), Taiwan will be affected by a monsoon gyre, resulting in a high possibility of afternoon thunderstorms and localized torrential rains.

The Central Weather Bureau (CWB) pointed out that strong southwest winds have resulted in foehn winds in Taitung County. CWB also issued heat advisories for several cities and counties on Wednesday (July 5). Pingtung County and Hualien County are under an orange alert, with a high probability of extreme temperatures reaching 38 degrees Celsius. 

The stationary front that had been lingering over Taiwan is gradually shifting away, but residents can expect persistent rainy conditions due to prevailing southwestern winds.

Mild Typhoon Guchol is forecasted to intensify into a moderate typhoon in the afternoon or evening today (June 8), according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).

Taiwan is bracing for the impact of Typhoon Mawar as the storm edges closer this week. The Central Weather Bureau (CWB) has warned that the typhoon will be closest to Taiwan from Wednesday to Thursday, with its effects already being felt since today and expected to persist until Friday.

The Central Weather Bureau announced that as dry weather returns on Tuesday (May 9), temperatures will remain consistent and pleasant for the remainder of the week in most parts of Taiwan.  However, there are chances of rain increasing again over the weekend.
